Color theory is real - especially when it comes to the harmony between your skin’s undertones and your wardrobe. Once I landed on the right colors, my face appeared to glow. I feel pretty (and more myself) when I’m wearing my best colors.
Your undertone (not the same as skin tone) will make certain colors pop when placed next to your skin, giving a pleasant and uplifting effect. Like a sudden cluster of Spring flowers on a hillside. Everything looks happier yet natural - when the right colors are involved.
I learned about the power of color thanks to my customer-turned-brand ambassador (and now friend), Eileen. She invited me to an in-person Color Analysis. I was skeptical at first.
But when a series of colored drapes were placed next to her face, I saw the transformation myself. Her unique undertone favored a Winter palette. She looked younger and healthier dressed in her best colors.
So now I’m a color convert! I signed up for a professional color analysis myself, and it turns out I’m a “Deep Summer Colors” gal. This typically means hues at the coolest, wintery end of the Summer palette. Think violet flower, shocking pink and raspberry.
I wasn’t too excited to be honest. For example, I had no idea orange wasn’t my color. I love an invigorating orange! When I got home I tried to prove the analysis wrong. I slipped on a bright orange camisole... but lo and behold: I could now (sort of) see through the color analyst's eyes. I looked washed out somehow. So little by little I started wearing Deep Summer Colors... and I immediately noticed a difference. The right colors made me shine.
Once I found my Best Colors, I realized that scarves are the easiest way to get them next to my face. No need to revamp my entire wardrobe. I love fashion, but I like easy solutions even more.
Here I am with my Willow Scarves from Kettlewell, a women’s clothing brand that’s all about color. Their entire offering caters to the four seasonal palettes.
All you need to do is find out which season you are. While you could try to determine your undertone yourself, it’s always better to book an appointment with a color professional.
Willow Scarves are also the perfect length and width for mixing a few colors together. Not too bulky but great at taking the chill off. I’ve been styling them with my Scarf Locks this (cold-ish) Spring, and getting lots of compliments!
I’m not an affiliate for Kettlewell Colors, I’m just a fan and wanted to share the color love. 💙💜💚💛🧡
